Washburn County Tourism Executive Board Meeting March 20, 2007 – 9:00 a.m.  

Washburn County Tourism Office 

Attendees:  Dan Frase, Charlie Swanson, Greg Vreeland, Ann Miller.

Others Present:   Margie Quinn.

Dan Frase called meeting to order at 9:00 am.   

Dan Frase indicated he had contacted the three board members that have not attended meeting in the last several months.   

REVIEW OF BY-LAWS  President Dan Frase circulated members and Marge a copy of the By-Laws (amended 2006).Dan Frase stated he would like to review Article 4 and make revisions.   Dan Frase made a motion to revised Article 4, section 1- The Tourism Board will give priority to one member from each of the 4 Municipalities including as follows; Spooner, Shell Lake, Minong, and Birchwood and also the areas of Long Lake, Trego, and Stone Lake.  There shall be up to 5 at large Members.  Ann Miller 2nd the motion.  Motion carried. Dan Frase made a motion to delete Article IV, section 1 – No Municipality or area shall have more than two (2) representatives on the Board of Directors.  Charlie Swanson 2nd the motion.  Motion carried. Ann Miller made a motion that all members of WC Tourism Board have to reside or own a business in Washburn County.  Dan Frase 2nd motion.  Motion carried. Dan Frase made a motion to add the phrase on article 4 as follows:  If a Board member is absent from three meetings in a calendar year without the Executive Board approval, they are resigned from the Board.  Ann Miller 2nd the motion.  Motion Carried. Charlie Swanson made a motion to remove the phrase in Article 4, section 1, that states “Directors may serve no more than (2) consecutive terms on the Board.  The individual cannot be elected to the board until one term is passed.”  Dan Frase 2nd the motion.   Motion carried.   

No other changes at this time in the By Laws. 

Greg Vreeland asked the Executive Board for approval to attend the Minneapolis Sport Show.  Greg felt this Sport Show is a prime Market for Washburn County with only being 2 hours away.  Dan Frase made a motion for Greg Vreeland to attend the Minneapolis Sport Show in the amount of $400.00, with using Tourism Advertising money that Tourism has saved on snowmobile magazines they did not do this year.  Ann Miller 2nd the motion.  Motion carried.  

 Discussions were made on Greg Vreeland’s resignation.  Greg V. indicated he can bring the Association more by bringing opportunities by not being a member.  Greg V. indicated his resignation was effective the date of his letter was presented to President Dan Frase. 

Adjourned at 11:10 a.m.  Motion made by Dan Frase, second by Ann Miller - Motion carried.
