Minutes of Monthly Meeting -- Tuesday, August 9, 2011
Washburn County Information Center
Meeting was called to order at 8:32 a.m. by Vice President Ann Miller.
Members present: Joe Fitzgerald, Dana Morlock, Richard Fankhauser, Ann Miller, Charlie Swanson
Absent: Greg Krantz, Lee Magnuson
Others present: Michelle Voight, Alex Epping
Previous Minutes
Minutes of the July 2011 Regular Meeting were circulated. Fankhauser moved to approve, seconded by Miller. Motion carried.
Financial Report:
Michelle circulated the financial report for review. Swanson moved to accept the Financial Report, Seconded by Fankhauser. Motion carried.

None
Old Business:
□ MoTIC
Information was presented on the Mobile Travel Information Center and the semi was brought for viewing. Discussion was had on participation in the MoTIC. Miller made a motion to purchase a5’ panel in the trailer, seconded by Fankhauser. Motion carried.
□ Sport Shows 2012
Discussion was had on the 2012 shows. The larger shows will be covered with participation in the MoTIC, but we will still need to attend the smaller shows. Miller made a motion to attend LaCrosse, seconded by Morlock. Motion carried.
□ Visitor Center Signs
Alex presented a sketch of the sign and initial quotes from sign companies. The recommended material is aluminum or alumacore. Discussion was had on ensuring that they will stand behind the sign and will get it up in a timely manner. Miller made a motion to approve up to $1000, seconded by Dana. Motion carried.
Fishing Opener Planning Committee Report:
□ Update
The first committee meeting was held on July 14th. Discussion was had on the event regarding that it is Wisconsin Indian Head Country’s event and Washburn County is the host location. At the meeting on July 14th, Indian Head Country presented the majority of the venues for the opener. WCTA didn’t have input on the location of the opener or the banquets. As host location, WCTA will be assisting with getting auction items, shirt sponsors and making welcome bags for the attendees.
New Business:
□ WACVB Conference
Discussion was had on the WACVB conference and potentially sharing travel costs with the Superior-Douglas County Chamber of Commerce. The agenda for the conference hasn’t yet been released. Fankhauser made a motion to table until the agenda is released, seconded by Swanson. Motion carried.
□ WATVA Advertising
Discussion was had on the Wisconsin ATV Association magazine. Miller made a motion to approve, seconded by Morlock. Motion carried.
Director’s Report:
□ Office Update
Michelle reported that WCTA is in fact a 501(c)(6) and the letter of determination will be sent by the IRS. The Spooner Chamber is contributing $300 to the new phone/voicemail system to help route calls to the appropriate desk. We have received a $309 credit from Liberty Mutual for insurance.
□ Website Update
Michelle and Alex reviewed the new website and figured out what tabs will be needed. She is setting up a meeting with Magnifisites to complete the Secure Connect area and they will begin page design.
□ Information Kiosk Update
The kiosk is still ready to be installed. WC Maintenance is having a contractor do the installation. He has been here to take measurements so it should be completed soon.
□ New Owner Meet & Greets
If you know of any new businesses, please let Michelle know.
□ WI Dept. of Tourism Update
Michelle reported that we have received the July 2011 TIC Grant from the Wisconsin Dept. of Tourism to cover half of the expense of the literature racks, totaling $655. Michelle passed around information from Secretary Klett regarding the Tourism job report.
□ Visitor Statistics
Visitor statistics for June and July were circulated.
□ Line Item Transfers (if needed)
Miller made a motion to move $500 from Postage to Office, seconded by Fankhauser. Motion carried.
□ Receipts/Reimbursements
Miller made a motion to approve the director’s mileage report, seconded by Morlock. Motion carried.
Miller made a motion to approve Alex’s mileage report, seconded by Morlock. Motion carried.
Correspondence:
-Letter from the Wisconsin Department of Tourism awarding the July 2011 Travel Information Center Grant.
Other Business:
-None.
Motion to adjourn was made by Swanson and seconded by Fankhauser. The meeting was adjourned at 10:13 a.m.
