Looking for some peace and quiet on your Northwoods vacation? Search no further than the serene village of Minong and the surrounding area. Located near the northern border of Washburn County, the village and bordering townships of Minong and Frog Creek offer a haven for travelers looking to get away from the more crowded tourist destinations. Yet you’re close enough to shopping and attractions in nearby Spooner and Hayward for convenient day trips. Home to the corporate headquarters of Link Snacks Inc., makers of internationally-known Jack Link’s Beef Jerky, Minong itself offers a full-service grocery store, lumber and hardware supplies, fishing and hunting necessities, one of the region’s largest boat dealers, several restaurants as well as mini-golf, gift shopping and hand-scooped ice cream. The area’s annual celebration, Minong Summer Days, is held the second weekend of August.

Encircled by the Northwoods in Every Direction, recreational opportunities for all interests abound. The Town of Frog Creek has more than 35,000 acres of county-owned forest land and the Town of Minong has more than 7,800 as well as thousands more owned by paper companies that allow public access. The Town of Minong boasts 27 named lakes and 32 more too small to be named. There’s three public parks: Totagatic County Park on the 1500-acre Minong Flowage, Bond Park in the village and Minong Town Park on the north end of Bass Lake. A children’s fishing pond is located just east of the village on Hwy. 77. You will find convenient access to multi-use trails, including the Wild Rivers Trail with parking and access in the village, snowmobile trails 8 and 39A connecting to the state trail system and the Totagatic Ski Trail just north of the village. The scenic Totagatic River, still largely undeveloped, enters the eastern edge of Frog Creek at the state-owned Totagatic River Wildlife Area and meanders to the Minong Flowage and on through the Town of Minong heading to its confluence with the Namekagon. Yes, Minong truly is surrounded by the Northwoods in Every Direction.
