Trails in Washburn County

Northwest Wisconsin is fast becoming the premier destination for snowmobile and ATV enthusiasts — and the Spooner area is a hub for trails and events. Our vast network links to hundreds of miles of trails crossing five states. Many trails are open year-round for seasonal uses. The newest is the 96-mile Wild Rivers Trail, a former railroad bed converted for hikers, mountain bikes, horses, ATVs and snowmobiles.

Hikers, bicyclists and horseback riders are discovering that the Spooner area boasts some of the best wilderness trails in Wisconsin. Woods, water, hills and sandy trails — without traffic and noise — make our area a rider’s or hiker’s dream. Hiking enthusiasts should check out the famous ice-age Totogatic Trail, plus trails at area resorts. For equestrians, several area stables rent horses by the hour or day.
