The Walleye Capital of Wisconsin, Long Lake in Washburn County is a picturesque 3,300 acre, 19 mile long lake reaching depths of over 70 feet.  The clear, spring-fed water, cool deep bays, gravel bars, pristine setting, and miles of undeveloped shoreline make a productive year-round fishery for walleye as well as large and small mouth bass, crappie, bluegill, and northern pike.  View the current fishing report here. ATVing in Washburn County

Surrounded on all sides by trails, Long Lake is a hot spot for ATV, snowshoe, cross country ski and snowmobile enthusiasts. In the winter, the "lake trail" will bring you across Long Lake where you can access all of the restaurants and resorts. Nearby Hunt Hill even offers 13 miles of hiking trails.

In August, you'll definitely want to mark your calendar for the Band on the Barge where you'll enjoy live music right on the water. Be sure to watch the calendar for Hunt Hill Audubon Sanctuary's nature programming as well.

Lakeside lodging is plentiful around Long Lake. Nearby you'll find plentiful camping as well. Many of the lakeside cabins are also open during the winter months, making Long Lake a great destination for winter sports such as cross country skiing and snowmobiling as well.

Golfing at Butternut Hills, Washburn County

Be sure to head out to Butternut Hills Golf Course while you're in the Long Lake area for a great round of golf. Hunt Hill Audubon Sanctuary is also a hot spot for fun activities. They offer over 13 miles of hiking trails and educational programming year round.
