We know that memories are made when you are out enjoying the water or exploring all the Washburn County has to offer. But, where is your favorite place to stay during these adventures? There’s a little bit of everything to pick from around here, mom & pop motels, beautiful campgrounds, a classic resort right on the water - it seems like there’s an ideal getaway from everyone!

According to the Best of WashCo poll coming in at the top of the list is the beautiful Totogatic Campground. Enjoyed by both locals and visitors alike, this campground has 75 scenic campsites along the shores of the Minong Flowage. There are great amenities offered such as a beach, playground, electric/water sites, and so much more - not to mention it is even pet friendly! The park even ranked in the top 3 in our Best of WashCo - Paw Friendly as well! With the beautiful Minong Flowage and well maintained park, just a quick drive through the property will make you realize why everyone loves this place so much!

Next on the list is Heartwood Resort. This 700 acre property has accommodations for all! Lodge rooms, check. Cozy lakeside cottages, check. Duplex style bunk houses, check. You’ll feel whisked away from the hustle and bustle of the busy lifestyle when you are at Heartwood and experience true northwoods hospitality. While you’re staying there, you’ll find plenty of outdoor adventures from the hiking trails to a disc golf course, a swimming beach, kayak rentals, and the list could just go on and on. You can enjoy the best of the north woods without ever having to leave the property.

Lastly, located on the beautiful Yellow River in Spooner is the Best Western Spooner Riverplace Hotel. With all the modern amenities, it’s the perfect base for your Washburn County adventures. Not only is the hotel located on the Yellow River, it’s also right next to the Wild Rivers State Trail which is the area’s main corridor on the Washburn County ATV Trail System. With direct trail access, it’s the perfect place to rest your head and relax after a great day exploring the trails.
