Have your kids ever been glued to a screen while on vacation? Washburn County has the perfect solution; take them on the Kids Scavenger Hunt to discover Washburn County. On the scavenger hunt there are a variety of activities to do such as visiting Hunt Hill Audubon Sanctuary, going swimming at a local beach, taking a train ride, or taking pictures of various popular landmarks. The list goes on!

To get you started, Hunt Hill Audubon Sanctuary has 600+ acres of hiking trails, lakes, bogs, prairies and forests. Hunt Hill also offers a variety of nature programs and camps for kids of all ages. From Hunt Hill, you are only 15 miles East of Shell Lake. So stick the scavenger hunt list in your pocket, and swing over to the gorgeous, sandy beach located on Shell Lake to check off another fun activity...swimming!

If you keep going North, the fun doesn't stop! You can make a quick stop at Bulik’s Amusement Center on the north end of Spooner, or make it an afternoon. Take a spin around their go kart track or play 18 holes of mini golf. (And you get to check off another activity or two on the scavenger hunt list!)

You can also experience a scenic train ride on the Wisconsin Great Northern Railroad. A family favorite is the Family Pizza Train. With the depot only four miles North of Spooner, you almost have to do it after you stop at Bulik’s!

If those want-to-be cowboys and cowgirls want to experience the great northwoods, take them out to Hoofbeat Ridge Ranch only 11 miles east of Spooner of County Highway A. Hoofbeat Ridge Ranch offers a variety of different rides, including Pony Rides or trail rides lasting up to an hour and a half.
