Quarters' Arcade in Spooner offers over 30 arcade games for only 25 cents per play. Bring the kids down to experience video games in a classic arcade atmosphere.
BOWLING: Bowling is a great way to spend a winter afternoon with your family. Northwoods Lanes in Spooner offers a relaxed bowling environment.
CASINOS: Washburn County is surrounded by four casinos. St. Croix Casino operates three casinos (Turtle Lake, Danbury and Hertel).
COMEDY SHOWS: Belly laugh your way through some stand-up comedy at the Minong Center. Comedy shows are held every other Friday evening. Check our events calendar for upcoming shows and other great events being held at the Minong Center.
INDOOR ARCHERY RANGE: A competition grade indoor archery range is located at AAA Sport Shop in Spooner. Whether you want to practice during the off season or try out a new bow, AAA is the place to go.
LIVE MUSIC: Catch some live music at one of the local establishments throughout the winter season. Check the events calendar for upcoming events.
MOVIE THEATER: The historic Palace Theater in downtown Spooner offers two newly remodeled theaters for your viewing pleasure. The theater offers movies daily and matinees on weekends during the winter months.
READING: Grab a book at one of the local libraries, located in Minong, Shell Lake and Spooner. The area libraries offer free wireless internet and hours of relaxing reading time.
TRAIN RIDES: The Spooner Train Ride is open year 'round and offers a variety of sightseeing train rides including an Elegant Dinner Train and Bed & Breakfast Train Ride.
WINERY: Clover Meadow Winery, located just west of Shell Lake, is the only certified organic winery in the midwest and is open Friday, Saturday and Sunday during the winter months.
If you're looking for a fun way to explore Washburn County this winter, be sure to check out the snowshoe trails. Hunt Hill Audubon Sanctuary offers 10 miles of loops through a variety of landscapes and the Spooner City Park offers several miles of popular trails. In addition, there are great snowshoe opportunities in the Beaver Brook Wildlife Area and Sawmill Park if you would like to enjoy some back-country snowshoeing. SPA SERVICES: Spa services are available at a variety of local businesses. Whether you are looking for a relaxing massage, would like to try out acupuncture or just want to get your nails done, there are plenty of spa services available in Washburn County. SPOONER FISH HATCHERY: Explore the world's largest muskie fish hatchery, located in Spooner. Interactive displays, a viewing window and a wall-size mural are some of the fun things to see at the hatchery. The Spooner Fish Hatchery visitor center is open Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The Wildcat Mountain Bike Trail, just east of Spooner, offers 14 miles of groomed fat bike trails for winter riding enthusiasts. In addition, Spooner City Park (College Street) offers 4-5 miles of fat bike trails. If you are looking to rent a fat bike to try out this growing sport, head over to Saw This in Spooner.
CROSS COUNTRY SKIING:
Washburn County offers a variety of excellent cross country ski trails, including the Nordic Woods, Beaver Brook and Spooner City Park (College Street) trails. If you're looking to do some evening skiing, Spooner City Park trails offer a lit ski trail as well. Be sure to check ski trail conditions prior to venturing out.

ICE SKATING: Grab a pair of skates and head to one of the outdoor rinks to spend some quality time with your family. Outdoor rinks are available at: Birchwood Village Hall, Spooner City Park, and Trego Town Hall.
SLEDDING: Head over to Heartwood Conference Center & Retreat to play on their snow tubing hill for a while with the kids. For a small fee, non-resort guests may use the hill and tubes are available for rent as well.
SLEIGH RIDES: If you're looking for a more traditional winter experience, be sure to head to On Twin Lakes (715-354-3210) for a horse-drawn sleigh ride. Reservations are required.
SNOWMOBILING: Over 200 miles of well-groomed snowmobile trails wind through Washburn County, connecting to the incredible Northwest Wisconsin trail system. Be sure to check trail conditions prior to your trip.
