Horseback Riding

Washburn County is home to spectacular horseback riding trails.  The Dugan Run Horse Trails & Campground are a great place for horse-lovers to gather and appreciate the "Northwoods in every Direction."  With over 30 miles of trails, two separate campgrounds with a total of more than 20 campsites, Dugan Run is a great place to visit.

 

Horseback Riding Trails:

Dugan Run Horse Trails are located 15 miles east of Spooner. There are 30 miles of equestrian trail loops through gently rolling hardwood ridges. 

The north trail head is located 2 miles north of Highway 70 on Dugan Lake Road. Amenities include parking, bathroom, well, pavilion, fire ring, grills and primitive camping.

The south trailhead is located 2 miles south of Highway 70 on Harmon Lake Road. Amenities include parking, bathroom, well, fire rings, grills and 12 campsites with electrical hookup.

Horseback Riding Stables:

If you don't have your own horse, but have always wanted to try horseback riding, Washburn County has great area horseback riding stables who are more than happy to show you the joys of horseback riding.  The riding stables can accommodate anyone from beginner level to advance and they offer a variety of different riding options.  Horseback Riding is a great way to experience the beauty of Northwest Wisconsin.

  • Hoofbeat Ridge Ranch- Located 11 miles east of Spooner on County Highway A. Guided trail rides are offered 7 days a week during the summer and by appointment in the off season.
