The cool nights and frosty mornings have arrived & I don’t know about you, but it makes me fast forward to nights in front of the fire with cocoa and my loved ones! There are so many great things coming our way this holiday season in Washburn County that you just can’t help but feel jolly and get swept away in the spirit of it all.
There are a lot of things to think about when it comes to the holidays, but the first on a lot of lists (including mine!) is buying the perfect gift for my people. I mean, what do you buy for your aunt who has pretty much everything...and don’t get me started on the catalog that has red circles all over it that my little one strategically placed in my sight. Sometimes it feels just a little overwhelming to find the perfect gift for every single person in your life. Are you in the same boat? Either way, pretty much everyone has at least some shopping to do and some of the best gifts can be found right here in our backyard. Around the holidays there are a variety of local craft fairs full of items that were handcrafted, locally made, and make the perfect gift for that hard-to-shop-for person. Aside from the local art & craft fairs, there are a few “Ladies’ Nights” coming up, one held in Downtown Spooner and the other in Shell Lake at The Potter’s Shed. It makes the perfect night out with your girlfriends to find a bargain, sip on a yummy drink and just be festive. Be sure to check out the Calendar of Events so you don’t miss out on all of the fun!
If you are looking for something the whole family can enjoy, well… ALL ABOARD! Santa’s Pizza Party Train Ride is gearing up for another season starting soon. This enchanting ride makes everyone still believe in the magic of Christmas with a Santa visit, holiday cookies, and hot chocolate. Make sure you are ready to take lots of photos; the train cars are full of beautiful hand-painted murals that make the perfect backdrop to remember your train ride. Plus you get to have yummy pizza for lunch...and who doesn’t love pizza? Make sure to visit SpoonerTrainRide.com to make your reservation for this one of a kind, memory making trip!
Since there isn’t enough snow quite yet to make it feel like you’re walking in a winter wonderland while you’re outside, why not head inside and lace up some skates to enjoying skating at the Spooner Civic Center. Don’t have skates? No worries, there are skate rentals of all sizes available for a nominal fee, that means even mom & dad get to enjoy skating too!
